Identify toxic mushrom

April 13 2009, 9:38 PM

found a huge red mushroom with a texture of a morel. Is it ok to eat?

Note from The Great Morel:

If one hasn't already done so, check out The Great Morel's False Morels page to find some helpful tips on identifying "the good, the bad and the ugly". There are also more images of False Morels by clicking here.

The Great Morel understands the importance of identifying your morels, and takes identification very seriously, therefore, it is suggested that you also visit the links on the False Morel page to a few of the great sites and white papers, as well as other images of the various varieties of the false morels.

If you are uncertain, please take caution as the false morel can be very toxic and poisonious.
