Will be checking my spots tomorrow 40 miles west of Chicago, anyone finding them this far north ? With the temps today and tomorrow, I'm thinking those early areas should pop.

Tony. they are out. I checked my usual spot and all the early ones are out. took home about 100. My concern is too much rain. this could stop them quick.

Season has begun

April 25 2009, 11:54 PM

Found a few on Thurs. and Fri. at my usual season opener spot near the house (20 miles west of Chicago). They're tiny greys, none larger than 2". I agree the rain today has put a damper on tomorrow's hunting.

Morel's in Will County

April 28 2009, 11:42 AM

Went out yesterday and found 6 in the Plainfield area. They looked like they had been up for a few days already. Small yellows about 2-3" high.

After the rain settles, we should be in full swing.
