I was out checking the perennial flowers this afternoon and found a couple bouquets of morels in the mulch! I normally get a few in my flower bed each year, but there are more this year than ever. I hope this is a good sign! They're here a little earlier than I expected but they were medium size, so I'm hoping for some good hunting this year.
I'm heading out in the morning for a hike to my favorite spots, so I'll post back with my results. It's supposed to be great weather for next few days around Northern Illinois, so get out there an get'em while they're available. Good luck hunting everyone!
Went out yesterday found 20 nice greys 2-3" about 30 mile west of the city, They are here ! should be good for the next 2 weeks or so, last year we were picking them here till may 20th. Was in Calhoun county Ill. over the weekend (Central Far West Ill.) found some huge yellows 8-14" but they been up fopr a few days, seems the season is over down there already, and we missed it by a week. Happy Hunting
