Nothing in the Eastern U.P. yet, but should start any day. Anything yet at the tip of the mitt?

Morels in Charlevoix County - May 9

May 9 2009, 3:58 PM

Had a large group go out in northern Charlevoix County near Thumb Lake. We probably got over 200, mostly black, some white.

Finally!

May 10 2009, 3:15 AM

Heard there have been some finds in the Eastern U.P. so I checked an old stand-by spot and found 50 in under 15 minutes. 42 large blacks and 8 small to medium yellows.

Mackinaw County - I picked a shopping bag of beefsteaks for a guy I know that eats them on Sunday. Also picked over 100 blacks, about 20 grays, and even a couple yellows in a couple hours between Saturday and Sunday. It's raining right now, so I'm cleaning out the bed of my pick-up in anticipation of tomorrows load.
