Thanks for all the kind words.
I haven't quit the business. I have a brick and mortar business here in Jacksonville and I will continue to take in work eventually.
I think a lot of people missed the point of my post across the hall.
I believe that people have a right to timely repairs and correspondence. The problem is that, right now, I can't provide that. I made this move to bring my brother back into the business so I could provide quicker service and I believe I made the right move.
After moving here I decided to upgrade my Quickbooks 2005 for QB 2009. When I did everything went to hell.
QB 2009 corrupted all my business files, including my only backup, and I have lost every bit of company information since March 2005. I have no addresses, invoices or history on any customers. I have sent the corrupted files to intuit Data Recovery to see if they can recover the information.
I decided that my computer might be the problem so I purchased a new computer for the shop. After installing QB 2009 I have been going through all the paperwork I have to try to reconstruct my business. After setting up the new computer I found I couldn't access my business email account so I couldn't send or receive mail. I have a computer at home but I use Comcast cable and can receive but not answer email because Comcast blocks all SMTP except the ones that originate with them.
Got the email working at the shop and the new computer decided not to work with my printer or export and qb information so I can't send invoices or estimates. Packed it up and will install new computer tomorrow and start all over.
Meanwhile I haven't been able to work on watches because I have been trying to get the business up and running.
I didn't say anything about this in my original post because it seems like every time I get a handle on something, something else happens. Plus, everyone doesn't have to know my business.
The night I made the post I had just had another bad session with Intuit (customer service in India) and posted as I did.
I am doing fine and will keep in contact with all my friends from the boards.
