My ATV doesn't have a starter, so I was attempting to chase the info down from one of my ride buddies. But it appears he took off riding for the 4th of july holiday, so I haven't been able to contact him....
If the chip/wiring harness isn't the culprit, let us know and we will see what else we can come up with.
Since the battery is draining out, I am thinking that the chip, the harness or even the switch is defective, and is staying in the "open" position, causing the battery to drain.
Before you pull the harness and replace it, I would take it to a dealer you like and have them do a diagnostic test on it. They will probably charge you some sort of fee to do this, but it would be cheaper than replacing the suspect items one by one until you discover the problem.
I checked the Yamaha site, and there are no recalls posted about this problem...
