I have a Kawasaki 750 cc atv that is popping fuel-air mix back through one of the carbuerators and also backfiring. This is only happening on one of the carbs. Does this necessarily mean i have intake valve trouble on that cylinder, or could there be another issue?

the atv sat in the garage in very cold weather during the winter but I think i have run all the old gas out of it at this point, and the problem improved (but only slightly) when i sprayed some carb cleaner into the intake. It ran really well before the winter storage.

But the popping fuel-air mix back through the intake persists. It happens about every five seconds or so on idle but increases in frequency and intensity when the engine is revved, usually on deceleration after revving

any help out there? thanks guys

Hi,

I think you may have a couple of things going on...

You should always drain the fuel completely out before seasonal storage. I think you may have some fuel that has turned to "varnish" in the bottom of the tank.

You may need to drain the tank, and dispose of the gas, and then carefully clean the tank with solvent or carb cleaner. Once you can see the tank is clean, rinse thoroughly, and allow the tank to air dry. Or you can dry it with compressed air.

Also disassemble the fuel petcock, and clean well.

Plan on replacing the fuel line also.

Then reassemble all the components, fill with fresh gas, and see what happens...

Hope this helps...
