Hi all... here's a quick listing of my upcoming june and july events; including the weekend course in Foundational Herbcraft offered out at Blooming Valley Retreat (north of Grand Rapids); that's a great opportunity to learn some of the very important underlying principles of herbalism that I teach in my longer intensive course; please do inquire with me if interested in that...


If you feel like going for a drive...
I'll be offering herbwalks Friday June 19th through Sunday June 21st at the 9th International Herb Symposium at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.  It is quite worth the trip, if you're able.

Tall Trees Organic Summer Fun Festival
Friday June 28th from 1-6pm (my walk time is still being determined)
at Tall Trees Community Farm & Education Center in White Lake
a $5 to $25 sliding scale offering is deeply appreciated

I'll be offering herb walks in the fields and woods of Tall Trees, and there will be a lot of other super cool happenings, including music and dance circles, a tour of the CSA and composting demo, natural building activities, a butterfly & insect exhibit, and kids activities.  This is the second year for this event; last year was a blast... a very family friendly event.

The summer sun draws forth the medicinal virtues of many plants that grow in field and thicket; join herbalist jim mcdonald to explore the medicinal virtues, identification, folklore and preparation of many of the beautious wild weeds surrounding Upland Hills EAC in Oxford .  Some of the plants to be covered include Yarrow, Wild Bergamot, Motherwort, Saint John's Wort & Ox Eye Daisy.

Foundational Herbcraft... a weekend course

at Blooming Valley Retreat in Shelby, MI (north of grand rapids)
$250 includes lodging and meals

An exploration of the foundational principles that support traditional  western herbalism.   What are the actions by which herbs work? How do plants communicate their virtues to us through our senses, and  how can we learn to take in and apply this information in a practical and meaningful way?  This is the foundational information that underlies a deep and powerful understanding of traditional herbalism. 

The workshop includes six vegetarian meals and plenty of time for  rest & reflections..
