Does Anyone Recognize This Uniform? December 17 2007 at 4:20 PM		(Login slidekellyslide) Network 54 Moderator

Got a bunch of minor league photos in today all from the 1940s and I can't figure out what team this is...Tulsa Oilers, Topeka Owls???? Maybe someone else. The players are Leroy Jarvis, Bob Christofelt, John Stewart, and Ken Polivka. Any help appreciated.

Tulsa Oilers. I only did a search on Polivka, and found that he played for Tulsa from 1948-51.

Could not find any records on Christofelt, but Stewart was with Tulsa in '51, so that definitively dates these to that season.

Thanks Jodi! Try your luck with these guys?? They're wearing Cubs uniforms, but I find no record of either player ever playing in the majors. Jan Mandel and Larry Powell.

I found a Davenport Cubs and Decatur Cubs team, but these guys both have caps on with a "C" on it so I'm not so sure the town doesn't start with a "C".

Do yourself a favor and pick up a CD-ROM from Old-Time Baseball Data. Just Google him. It is an invaluable resource containing records of minor league baseball. You can search by player, team, league, etc. The CD is only about $45, but worth a million.
