I'm thinking of buying a game-used bat, but have very little experience with game-used bats, so I hope you folks can help me out. At the risk of outing my own auction, here is a link to the bat:

I want to make sure that this was a bat of Vern Stephens, not Gene Stephens, who also played for the Red Sox at about the same time. Any suggestions on how to confirm this? I asked the seller, and he said that the batboy who provided him with the bat attributed it to Vern Stephens.

Also, do you have any information on the reputation of the seller, zanebats? Thanks.

I can tell you that Zane Burns has been doing this for many years, and I have never gotten a bad piece from him. Every Bat that I have obtained from him has been verified by Mears and/or PSA. I would definitely say you can buy with confidence.

I've never bought from him, but have heard that he's a reputable game used bat dealer.
