19th Century Tintype photo help needed???

Whats everyone's opinion on the following early 19th century tintype photo shown.
Could it be a Boston player, (either professional or minor league) or simply a
college player or athlete from another sport??
The image is printed backwards. I have found that tintypes from this era are found
printed this way many times. Anyone care to comment??
Thanks, Tony

Hi Tony- without the presence of any baseball equipment, it would be impossible to say for sure whether or not it is baseball. Even a ball alone wouldn't clinch it. Without a bat, or in later tintypes a catcher's mask or fielder's glove, you can only speculate.

Edited to add yes, unless the photographer went to the trouble to reverse the image, it would appear backwards (you can hold it up to a mirror if you want to identify what's on his chest).

Looks like a jockey's cap and he looks to have the small wiry frame of a jockey.

19th Century Tintype photo help needed???

Athlete from another sport, I agree with Barry. There needs to be a ball, glove or bat present or type uniform. The athlete maybe track and field or as stated above horse racing was popular back then (Jockey)

Thanks everyone. The more I look at that cap now, it does look more like a jockey.

Regards, Tony
