Does anyone collect these? They are probably the best, most realistic sports statues on the market. They run about 9" tall and have great detail. I've been looking for one of Willie Mays "The Catch" double figurine. I think they stopped making that one and was hoping to find one second hand.
I agree, very nice figures. I only have one, Clemente. Wife bought it for me, but I must say I was impressed with the quality. She bought it direct when it first came out. They can be picked up on e-bay for less than issue cost, you just have to wait until Mays shows up.
I've considered getting others, but these damn pre-war cards cost too much money.
These are indeed quite nice. I have the Danbury 1975 Reds Team Set of statues, and it is one of my favorite modern figural pieces.
Regarding your Willie Mays inquiry, I just checked Ebay and found two in Ebay Stores. The first is item # 150243081761, with a Buy it Now price of $119.
The second is item # 120243658486, with a Buy It Now of $139.99. The first, less expensive one actually looks better, as the center medallion appears perfect. The second, more expensive one has some discoloration.
The only problem with the 119 dollar Mays Danbury Statue on ebay is that it has Mays making the catch over his right shoulder -- he actually made the catch over his left shoulder.
