Early 1900's College Baseball Uniform (?)

Hey All,

When in doubt, I need to go to the experts here. I picked up what I was told is an early 1900's College Baseball Uniform and was wondering if folks can confirm or maybe even provide more information. On the inside of the top - manufacturer black label with gold stitching that states "Horace Partridge Co. Boston. Cleveland and Charlotte". The inside of the pants looks like a stamp that says "Janforized" with 6 buttons on the inside along the belt line. What do you all think? I paid about $100 for them.

Thanks in advance !

Ray

Hi Ray,
I'm going to say that it is not a baseball uniform. It reminds me of an outfit that a marching band would wear. I'm sure others will chime in .

Ray, the label in the pants probably reads "sanforized". It was a pre-shrinking process and it would probably date the pants to no earlier than 1930.

p.s. - I think there is a very good possibility that the jacket and pants are not a set. The stripes on the pants are a different shade of red from the ones on the jacket which is odd if they are supposed to match.

Early 1900's College Baseball Uniform (?)

I would not be surprised if the pants were something different. I took a gamble thinking the top was made by Horace Partridge and they manufactured early uniforms. I take too many gambles - some good some not so good - and this may just be one of the not so good ones happy.gif!

Definately not baseball. Long sleeves and pockets on the front would lead me to believe that this would be a band or color guard uniform. I also don't think the pair are matching.
