Help with headlines?

I'm looking for help identifying these. They seem to be from the 20's and 30's. I have others but not sports related (Lindgergh) The Babe Ruth one has "Service Linen Ledger" embossed on back. They are much heavier stock than newspaper. On the back they were glued only on the ends. Did the News wires send headlines out with the photos. Do they have any value? Thanks in advance dave

try going to retrosheet.org for the yankees vs a's one. it has box scores from every game. Just look for the schedule of the yankees or a's in the 1920's or 30's.

Yankees "opened American League season" against Athletics in 1927 (four game series vs A's at New York), 1928 (two game set at Philadelphia), and again in 1930 (single game at Philly).

Not sure why the headlines would be typeset on heavy stock.

Here's a link to a picture of Ruth signing for kids at the New York Knickerbocker hospital c.1930 according to the photos description.

Old news service photos often had paper headlines/captions pasted to the photo, or otherwise sent with the photo. The tags themselves usually have bare minimal value.

One thing is they might look kind of interesting as part of a framed collage. Also, I would think numerous owners Babe Ruth autographed baseballs would love to have the Ruth headline-- great headline to prop up next to a Ruth ball.
