I have never seen or heard of a Winchester ball before, and may never again. It dates to the 20s or early 30s based on the two color stitching. It could have been purchased by either a Winchester or baseball collector.
That being said, in that condition and without the box, that is an insane price!
I've seen a few over the years. I'm surprised this went that high without the box. Very rare and probably had some cross collecting interest (Winchester collectors) that drove the price.
Winchester baseball items are highly sought after and hardly ever
offered. I think the last time i saw a winchester ball was probably
in SCD back in the 90`s. I just felt the price was way over the top.
The condition was really not that great either. The seller put the ball
in an unusual category, "Carpentry, Woodworking" I`m sure the seller is
very happy!!
ive never seen one. i have a pro winchester mask with a thick leather sun visor, and a winchester pro bat, but ive never seen a baseball of theirs. that was a crazy price. maybe its time to sell my mask.
