Gunny,
I am doing some E searches for my 86 year old aunt here in McMinnville
OR. Her brother , Reuben Hoff, was most likely, a 4th Marine,
surrendered in the Phillipines. Eyewitnesses told her of finding and
saving him from the ravages f disease and mistreatment at hands of the
Japs while in a concentration camp in the PI. We always thought he died
on the Bataan Death march, but the, now long dead, witnesses said that
he made it almost to the end of the war and then was killed on a
Japanese ship torpedoed by allied forces. Does any old China Marine or
other, remember Reuben, Ruby, Hoff from McMinnville, Oregon? Any
crumbs would make a faithful little old lady happy. It is a wound that
has never healed, as his body never came home. Pat Sanderlin
