Hello, I have a photograph of officers posed outside the British Legation in Peking, China taken probably around Nov. 1945. My father, B.H. Gibson, is in the photograph. I've located two men in the photograph with him but they did not recognize him. If you were there at that time, perhaps you were in the photograph too. Please email me directly at watrbug@gvtc.com I'd like to see if you recognize my father from the photograph. Thank you. Carolyn

Ted

I have just seen your message.

I was stationed at the French Fort from Nov.45

to Oct.46. We rounded up the Japs to the fort.

Was there in either July or August when we got

ambushed on our patrol to Peiping.I remember

on our return trip to Tienstin, every truck had

the America flag on it. I believe the U.S. would

have declared war with Communist China if we had

got fired upon.

I was at West Field outside Peiping in October `45 and South Field until June `46. Came back to the States on Gen. J>C> Breckinridge in July and discharged at Lejeune 10 August. Did you know my friend Eugene Sledge "Sledgehammer"? He wrote the book With the Old Breed at Pelilu and Okinawa? Are you a member of the China Marine Association? It only cost $10 a year.
