As one starts to learn this swing invariably one starts to roll the left hand more to the right when they grip with their left hand thus causing the right hand to be out of position even though it is sitting correctly on the left thumb and forefinger joint on the top of the left hand.
I corrected Marc on this. I correct everyone on this as it is common when one is focusing on the sealed grip of the hands. Only those of you who have purchased the book and video and are working this swing will really understand what I am saying.
When the grip is in its proper position all you have to do is look down at your hands. You should be able to see the middle finger knuckle of each hand. It will be shouting at you like a mountain top.
(RIGHT HAND) If all you can see on your right hand is the FOREFINGER KNUCKLE joint then you need to roll the right hand slightly to the left. If you can see the THIRD finger knuckle then you need to roll the right hand back a bit.
(LEFT HAND) If you can see the knuckle joint of the THIRD finger then your left hand is too strong and you must roll your hand to the left so that all you see is the middle finger knuckle joint.
THIS IS ALL DONE AT THE GRIP STAGE. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO ADJUST WHILE ALREADY IN YOUR STANCE THEN STEP AWAY FROM THE BALL. GET THE GRIP ON THE CLUB BEFORE YOU EVEN GET INTO YOUR STANCE.
When the grip is proper both middle finger knuckle joints will be easy to see.
Also one big issue. Don't try to feel the sealed grip through impact with a slow practice move - all that will happen is that your left arm will be out in front of your left leg and you will be coming across at impact not pushing down.
You can't fell the impact of the seal wrists with the arms it can only be done with the piston move of the right shoulder moving downward with the right arm.
Pulling the left arm across with sealed wrist produces a very straight MISS HIT but not a correct Hit.
AND ONE LAST THING STOP…STOP…. STOP… THINKING ABOUT WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU STAND UP TO MAKE THE SWING. YOU CANNOT THINK FOCUS YOU CAN ONLY FEEL FOCUS. When the ball goes bad (as it does with me) FORGET IT- as my Grandfather would say “ Now hit the recovery shot”
