On Friday October, 24th someone went to Vinemont Elementary and attempted to 'withdraw' a kindergarden student from school. The man's ID was not checked. Nor were there a any security cameras. So school officials nor the parents have any idea who tried to withdraw this child from school. A police report was filed. And done so as an attempted kid-napping. The child's mother did not know this until the harvest carnival on the 25th. when the child's teacher asked the students mother if she was moving. Why did they wait to contact the mother? Any way, I know for a fact that this happened. To my knowledge this incident has not been reported in the newspaper. Why? Seems like to me that the more people that know about this the safer our children would be.

I believe several people would really like to see tighter security at that school. Parents do not follow rules for picking up students. Parents are asked to wait at the front of the building for the teachers to bring the students to the front of the school. The campus is so open, it is hard enough to keep children safe, without the extra worry of strangers walking up and taking children. This incident only proves what some individuals have been fearful of. Instead of spending money on softball fields and extra conviences, we should spend money on tighter security.

Cameras? By the time a child is taken and the cameras are viewed, the child and the predator will be long gone. This school needs better security, than a camera system.

Shouldn't matter who the child was. The more important question, was he caught, or is the person still on the loose to try again. What measure are being taken to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again. Security cameras don't prevent it from happening and by the time it's discovered, the kidnapper is long gone.
