It didn't teach us much

Response to Musings and a question or two

Dee, you have so many questions, and I'm sure others will offer interesting views, but I just wanted to say that I think TXF didn't teach us much! (Hey, that's no surprise, is it.) It might have been better if GA had directed the show because at least she seems to believe in New Age philosophy. We would have received some sort of message from someone who had beliefs.

While the show dealt with the theme of the paranormal, CC's essential aim was to scare people. He excelled in spooking people and digusting them. He didn't really have any beliefs to speak of, religious or otherwise. He just wanted to believe in the paranormal (hence the motto) but couldn't quite do it. And Scully and Mulder were just representing the two sides of his conflicted mind. We can't take them seriously as people.

As I said before, CC isn't the kind of director who deals with people and their real feelings. In a way, the show doesn't deserve our over-analysis of these two characters and storyline because everything is so miserably flawed.

It was pointless to expect from CC anything on the human psyche or on the big picture behind the UFOs and the aliens. Anyone who really understood New Age concepts would have produced a show that broadened our visions and gave us hope.
