Response to Pretending

Like Ursula, I also see a happy couple in M and K. Ah yes, I can see them working very happily together. Scully would also be there, sighing and shaking her head in exasperation and sometimes helping to soften the tension that arises between the two. They would go together for lunch, late dinners, even to the cinema on weekends!

I would like to see them work as partners for at least a year or two, before any ''betrayal'' takes place. I guess we could do with some dose of angst!
And even after that, K would be redeemed, eventually returning to the FBI.

I think K would be pretty respectful toward M in the beginning but gradually his short temper would surface. I can imagine fights, but not pointless physical ones. It would be intellectual disagreements although M would inevitably do some sulking when he can't persuade K to see his point of view.

And yes, M probably would listen more to K than to Scully. (The way he goes off on his own does seem to be based on sexist views, unfortunately)

The relationship will be purely platonic in the first two years or so, with Mulder enjoy having pizza in the office with Alex, relishing moments when they are phyiscally close, but not making sense of it all the whole time.

Only after the betrayal and the absense of K, will M realize what he has lost and what he has long subconsciously wanted.

But in my world, they won't actually marry or move in together. They will have their own apartments! And they might go on dates with other people and have jealous arguments.
