  • Trying to revive old units

My mother-in-law has several old units that appear to not be working. Two of the units will try to power up. They go through what appears to be a boot sequence, then power back down. There is only one pwer supply between to the two, and I am wondering if this is bad. The power supply says 7 vdc and 1.5 amp, but when I check the output it is closer to 10vdc. Could this be causing the troubles? Is there a generic replacement that will not cost 1/3rd the price of a new unit? The third box is a web plus which has an attached power cord and an internal power supply. It sounds like it has a hard drive that it trying to spin up, but never locates the files needed to reach a menu screen. I hate to trash it all and start over, but frustration is starting to set in. Any help would be appriciated.
