Concern is growing for a missing Stone Roses fan who disappeared after one of their concerts at the weekend.

Christopher Brahney, 22, disappeared after the Friday night gig at Heaton Park. On Tuesday, police divers were searching a nearby boating lake for clues. He has not been seen since the concert ended at 11pm.

In an appeal for help, his father Stuart Brahney, from Timperley, Altrincham, said his son had lost his phone during the evening and has not been in touch since. The family is desperately worried about him and say it is out of character. He said his son "has never gone this long without being in touch."

More than 15,000 people have joined a Facebook group called Help Find Chris Brahney. His friends are also appealing for information via Twitter.

Brahney, 56, a quantity surveyor, spoke to the Manchester Evening News. He said: "We're very up and down. To be honest, it's a struggle but we're supporting each other and the support we have had from Chris's friends has been tremendous. Like all young men and women, Chris would go out, stay out with friends for a night and come back the next day. But it has never been on this scale before."

He said his son was an extremely affable and likeable individual. He urged anyone with any knowledge relating to his disappearance to contact police immediately. "We just want Chris's safe return," he added.

When he was last seen, Chris, who is slim and with short brown hair, was wearing a dark blue top, light blue shirt, maroon trousers and green wellington boots.

On Monday, Greater Manchester Police said his family are clearly very worried about him and desperate for any update, Detective Inspector Deborah Oakes said.

"Christopher, if you see or hear this appeal, we would ask that you make contact with us or the police as soon as possible," she added. The police telephone number is 0161 856 7652.
