sPzJgAbt 512 (Jagdtiger unit) insignia

The following is a brief study of a Steyr 1500A of s.Pz.Jag.Abt.512., which surrendered to US forces, along with three Jagdtigers and numerous other support vehicles in Iserlohn, Germany in the closing days of WWII.



Of particular interest is the unit insignia on the right rear door of the vehicle. The insignia as rendered below is based on the impressions of both David Reay and myself:



This insignia design should only be considered provisional until clearer photos surface.



This frontal view of the vehicle reveals white right-angled width markings on the fenders, as well as a dark rectangular marking on the LH front door - probably the standard shipping stencil, somewhat distorted by lens motion. Shipping data is also stencilled in an un-bordered format along the RHS of the vehicle (just visible at the bottom right of the first image above).
