As with previous unit-based articles below, the purpose of this thread will be to gather the available images which to date best describe the marking characteristics of 10.SS “Frundsberg” Pz Div.

In Normandie, photos establish this division adopted two forms of its “F” within a rhombus insignia, ie: a simple light outlined version (probably white in most cases, but there may be a possiblity yellow was used); and a multi colour version.

One of the perhaps more familiar examples seen on the internet of the simpler white "F" insignia is seen on a 10.SS Pz IV, grabbed from a Deutsche Wochenschau newsreel:

Another image below of a 10.SS SdKfz 9 Famo, taken on the dockside in Rouen at the end of the Normandie campaign shows a slightly different stencil design for the simpler white insignia:

The "J" insignia is a Germanic "I", standing for 'Instandsetzung', (repair unit). Colours are uncomfirmed, but possibly the outer border is red, with a green ring and black "I" on white field.

This simpler white "F" insignia can also be seen on a relic bow plate from a 2./SSPzAA.10 SdKfz 250 Ausf B, dug up in Normandie a few years ago and kindly linked by Eric George in France:

Note the frontally applied tac number, which I originally elaborated on some years ago elsewhere. A subsequent post here will endeavour to update that information.

An example of a masked-off version of the white insignia (albeit burnt) may be seen on the rear of this Opel Blitz ambulance bus below, KO’ed in Rouen:

For the record, the same red cross bus can be seen in the grim scene below, earlier and well ablaze in the background, apparently hit in the same Bomber Command raid that wrought destruction on a large concentration of German men and material on the dockside, were the Famo above was photographed:

Incidentally, the Tiger I is a rare example of a 2. Kompanie Schwere SS Pz Abt 101 vehicle without spare tracks on the bow.

The Ford V3000S ambulance seen in the foreground above, marked “K2” (ie Krankenwagen 2), also belonged to 10.SS, as indicated by a barely visible simple white style “F” insignia on its' LH fender:

The prefix "SS-40" on the Ford's registration plate substitutes the more usual "SS-14" assigned to 10.SS Pz Div. The Panther belongs to Pz Regt I./24, then attached to 116. Pz Div.

An excellent example of the alternative multi colour divisional insignia variation survives below, on a motorcycle pannier found in the Falaise Pocket area:

A very worn, but still recognizable example has also surfaced from the former Falaise Pocket battlefield and kindly posted by tintin44 on www.wehrmacht-awards.com excellent Achtung Panzer! forum:

The tac number on this SdKfz 250 Ausf B rear door relic is actually “317” and this, combined with the distinctive camouflage paint, matches perfectly with more surviving remains of a SdKfz 250 Ausf B, excavated a few years back and originally posted on www.sdkfz.com :
