did the ride from NY 3 times, last time was 6 years back.
Take the route thru Canada, much nicer road.
Anchorage is a drag, only thing there is the aquarium and the Great Alaska Bush club, great strip joint.
You have to take a ferry to get to Juneau, no roads in or out. If you get there, check out the Red Dog Saloon.
If you hit Skagway, make sure to take the raft trip to the Haines River Eagle preserve.
Denali Park is way cool but you can only ride in to the park 5 miles then you have to take the tourist bus. be sure to call and reserve a camping spot in advance for both.
The black flies will pick you up and fly away with you, bring plenty of DEET spray.
Fuel stops are few and far apart, get a few of them small gas jugs, no shit!
For the most part, the roads are OK but real bumpy and there are a lot of gravel roads. bring flat fix stuff and an extra belt and tools are a MUST. Also watch out for Moose, no shit. them and the Black Bears.
Here's a link to some of the pix from my last ride up thru Alberta, check it out and you'll see what it looks like up there

Have a great trip Stogie and be safe.

I rode to Alaska in 2005 from Wisconsin. Not sure what kind of information you're looking for, but feel free to email me if you have questions.
