{Chapter 2}
“Did you find her,” Victoria asked when Candice and the others returned to the suite.
“No,” Candice replied. “Look, Vic, maybe…maybe she’s running some errands and will be back later.” It was a weak explanation for Angela’s absence, but she didn’t know what else to say. Victoria was nervous enough with it being her wedding day.
There was a knock at the door then. Candice opened it to reveal Kane. “Any word from Angie?”
“No,” Candice frowned.
“This isn’t like her,” Kane said, clearly worried. “She wouldn’t just disappear. Something’s wrong.”
“We don’t know that,” Lita said trying to keep Victoria calm.
Kane sighed, running a hand down his face. “If she calls or comes by tell her to come see me.” He looked at Victoria and saw how worried she was about Angela. The two women had gotten very close over the past year. “Victoria, she’ll be there for your wedding. She wouldn’t let you down like that,” he said trying to reassure himself as well as the bride to be. With that he left the suite to check a few places for Angela.

“Is this some sort of sick joke,” Angela demanded holding up the marriage license, her hangover forgotten for now.
“Not at all,” Randy replied tossing aside the covers and standing. “I knew it was just a matter of time before you came to your senses about that big red retard Kane.” He made his way over to her and attempted to pull her into his arms.
“Kane is more man than you could ever hope to be, Randy,” she growled pushing him away.
Randy’s smile fell, a scowl replacing it. His blue eyes grew dark with anger and he hauled off and slapped her across the face. She stumbled back, grasping the doorjamb to keep from falling through the bathroom doorway.
“You’re mine now, Angie,” he said, his tone deadly serious. “That paper you have in your hand is proof of that.”
Angela glared at him and shredded the marriage license letting the slivers of paper rain down to the carpeted floor. “That paper proves NOTHING,” she spat at him. “I will NEVER belong to you, Randy. EVER!”
She attempted to shove past him to gather her things and leave, but he grabbed her shoulders making her look at him. “That ring on your finger means you belong to me,” he growled.
“You’ll never get away with this,” she said glaring at him, her jade green eyes becoming pools of acid.
Randy laughed. “I already have,” he said. “Whose room are you in? Whose name is on the marriage license? Who did you spend an amazing night with…oh…right you don’t remember that part.”
“You sick bastard,” Angela growled wrenching free from him. “Is that why I’m wearing the reject from the Barbie sleepwear collection? You fucking violated me?”
“I think you look sexy,” Randy replied. “And you never called it violation before.”
“That was different and you know it. I’m leaving,” she huffed and gathered up her discarded clothing.
“And go where,” Randy asked.
“Today is Victoria and Jason’s wedding,” Angela said as she pulled on her jeans and slipped the nightgown over her head, tossing it away. She pulled on the halter top. “I’m the maid of honor.”
“So,” Randy replied.
“So, I’m going to the wedding,” Angela replied as she pulled on her boots and grabbed her purse. She opened the door only to have Randy slam it before she could make an escape.
“I’ll let you go to that wedding on one condition,” Randy said.
“You’re not my master, Randy,” Angela growled trying to open the door. He was leaning against it with all his weight. “Let me go, Randy.”
“I’ll let you go to the wedding when you agree to the condition,” he replied.
Angela sighed, raking a hand through her hair. “Fine,” she replied. “What’s the condition?”
“You tell Kane you never want to see him again. Now, you can be as kind or as cruel as you want, but I want him out of your life,” Randy replied.
“What?”
“Did I stutter? You never see Kane again, Angela,” Randy replied.
“You’re insane,” Angela fumed. “And what else? I suppose you want me to go along and play the happy wife, huh?”
“Oh you’ll go along with it,” Randy said smirking, a wicked gleam in his blue eyes. “Because if you don’t you’re big red lover will have a little accident. The kind that he won’t wake up from.”
“You wouldn’t,” she said softly. “You’re a lot of things, Randy, but a killer is not one of them.”
“A lot of things have changed, baby,” he said matter of factly. “Do we have a deal or do I have to physically restrain you to keep you from leaving the room?”
Something in Randy’s eyes made her believe every word he said. He had a year to stew in his hatred for Kane. A year to drive himself to brink of insanity. Who knew what he would be capable of?
Angela hung her head, tears slipping down her cheeks. “I’ll do it,” she said softly. “Just please don’t hurt Kane.”
“Good girl,” Randy said reaching out and tilting her face up toward his. “You’ll be a good little wife. I can just tell.” He wiped her tears away with the pad of his thumb and placed a soft kiss on her lips. “Go on. You’ll be late for Victoria’s wedding.”

Angela arrived at Victoria’s suite a few minutes later. She didn’t care if her friend could see that she had been crying. She was dying inside and all she wanted to do was crawl under the covers and never leave.
“Angie,” Victoria cried when she saw her friend walk through the door. “Where have you been?” The rest of the ladies had gone to their own rooms to get ready for the wedding.
Angela didn’t answer the question. “Is Kane in his room,” she asked softly.
“I..think so,” Victoria replied. “Honey? What’s wrong?”
“I need to speak to Kane,” Angela said leaving before more tears could fall. She rode the elevator down to Kane’s floor and headed to his room. She wiped the tears away and knocked, not able to believe what she was about to do.
Kane answered the door. The moment he saw Angela he pulled her into his arms, holding her close to him. “I was so worried,” he said kissing the crown of her head. “Where have you been, baby?”
She pushed him away gently, though deep inside she wanted nothing more than to stay there in his arms. “Kane,” she had to stop before her voice cracked. Taking a shuddering breath she said, “I can’t see you anymore.”
“What,” Kane asked taken aback by her words. “Did I do something wrong?”
The tears were threatening to fall, but she forced them back. Her green eyes became pools of acid when she looked up at him. “It’s taken me a while to come to this realization,” she said coldly. “And I’m sorry I had to waste both your time and mine, but this just isn’t working out.”
“Why are you saying this,” Kane asked.
“Did you honestly think I’d choose you over Randy Orton,” Angela asked with a snicker. “He’s the Legend Killer and you’re…you’re just a monster. I could never love a monster.”
Kane grabbed her by the shoulders, his face twisted up in anger. “WHY ARE YOU SAYING THIS,” he demanded, his blood was boiling. “Did Orton put you up to this? DID HE?”
Angela wrenched herself free of his grasp and glared up at him. “Randy helped me see the light,” she replied. She held up her left hand and showed him the band on her finger. “I didn’t disappear last night, Kane. I was enjoying my wedding night.”
Kane growled something under his breath and punched the wall, his fist going right through it. “You bitch,” he growled, yanking his hand free from the wall. “You had to pull this shit TODAY! It’s our friends’ wedding day.”
“I’m well aware of the day, Kane,” she replied coolly, though inside she was hoping he’d follow through with the murderous intentions in his eyes. If he killed her she wouldn’t have to go back to Randy.
“Get out,” he said lowly. When she didn’t move he growled and took a step toward her. “I SAID GET OUT!”
Angela didn’t need any further encouragement as she scampered out of the room. She ran to the elevator, hearing Kane tearing apart his room. Once inside she slid down the back wall, pulling her knees up to chest and burying her face in them, allowing the tears to fall.
She knew she had broken his heart and his only crime had been that he loved her. When the elevator doors dinged open she got to her feet drying her eyes and heading back to Victoria’s suite. Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves she entered the suite and headed in to take a quick shower.
She was just toweling dry her hair when Victoria stood in the doorway, her brown eyes cold. “I just got off the phone with Jason,” she said. “He told me that you broke things off with Kane.”
Angela closed her eyes, forcing the tears back. “I did,” she said going back to drying her hair.
“He also said that you told Kane you married Randy last night,” Victoria said. She made Angela turn around to face her. “Randy? You married Randy?”
“You wouldn’t understand, Vic,” Angela replied pushing past her as she headed to her room to get dressed.
“You’re right. I don’t understand,” Victoria sighed. “Look, I don’t want any drama at my wedding.”
“There won’t be,” Angela replied. “Randy’s not coming.”
“I don’t want any trouble between you and Kane,” Victoria warned.
“No trouble. I swear, Vic. I’m there for you,” Angela said realizing her word probably meant very little at that moment.
With a sigh Victoria went back to getting ready for her wedding. She would talk to Angela about what was going on at a later time. Something in the younger woman’s eyes told her that things were not what they seemed and she aimed to get to the bottom of it. |
