{Chapter 7}
The weeks went by in the storyline. Randy continued to flirt with Angela, much to Kane’s chagrin. Angela continued to disobey Kane’s order to remain in the locker room, causing him to lose match after match to Randy.
That night as Angela prepared for her match, humming happily, she got a delivery of a dozen red roses. She smiled accepting them and inhaling their scent. She was just about to read the card when Kane approached her.
“They’re beautiful, Kane,” she said assuming he had sent them. “Thank you.”
“I didn’t send them,” he growled snatching the card from her hand. “These don’t compare to your beauty. Love, Randy.” He crumpled up the card with a growl. Without warning he snatched the roses from her arms and smashed them on the floor. “I think I need to have a little talk with your dear Randy. Let’s go.”
Angela followed him out to the ring. Kane grabbed a mic. “Orton, get your ass out here,” he growled. Angela paced the ring behind him.
Randy’s music hit and he stepped out onto the stage. “You bellowed, Kane,” he asked.
“You. Me. No Way Out,” was all Kane growled into the mic.
“Are you challenging me to a match,” Randy asked, smirking.
“Your damn right I am,” Kane growled. “Why don’t you put that nice shiny belt on the line?” Randy looked like he was mulling it over, but before he could give a response Kane added, “Or are you not man enough to face me in a title match?”
“You’re on,” Randy replied. “No Way Out. You and Me for this.” He held up the belt. The crowd went nuts.

“Randy,” Angela called catching up with him once they were all in the back. “What about the stipulation of the match?”
“Shane didn’t tell you,” Randy asked. Angela shook her head no. She was thoroughly confused as to why she had not been made part of the match. “The fans are loving this storyline. Shane and Stephanie have decided to extend it to Wrestlemania.”
“That’s six weeks away,” Angela said frowning.
“Don’t worry, baby,” Randy said smiling as he took her hand. “We can make it work.”
“Is everything going on as planned though,” she asked following him to his locker room.
“Exactly as planned, with the exception of the culmination happening a few weeks later,” Randy replied. He looked at her. “You all right? You look a little…tired.”
“I have been lately,” she replied with a sigh. “Of course that could have a lot to do with you not letting me sleep these days.” He chuckled and shook his head.
“Why don’t you go grab some coffee,” he suggested setting down his belt and pulling out his tights to prepare for his match later in the evening.
Angela crinkled her nose and shook her head. “The smell of it makes me sick these days,” she said. “I think I’m gonna hang out with Vic.” He nodded waving her off as if dismissing her.
Angela stepped out into the hall and saw Kane heading her way. He didn’t look pleased at all. “This your idea of fun,” he demanded.
“I had no idea what was going on, Kane,” she replied. “Shane and Randy came up with this. I was just as shocked as you were.” Kane grumbled a string of expletives under his breath. “Look at it this way, Kane, you’ll be headlining Wrestlemania.” She sighed. “Just like I always knew you would.” With that she started to walk away.
Kane watched her for a while before he sighed and followed her. He caught her by the wrist and pulled her into an abandoned locker room. In the weeks since the storyline began his anger had time to subside a little. He was still hurt, but the anger he had felt had just turned to sadness.
Pinning her up against the wall he looked down into her jade green eyes, searching them. She tried to avert them, but he turned her face back to him. “Please,” she whimpered, tears filling her eyes. “If Randy finds out he’ll….”
“I should kill him for hurting you, Angie,” Kane said.
“Kane, please,” she said the tears slipping down her cheeks.
“Why, Angie? Why would you lie to me,” he asked. He had found what he had been looking for in her eyes. A small glimmer of hope that she still cared for him. “You still love me, Angie. Say it.”
“There’s no point,” she sobbed. “We can never be together, Kane.”
“Please, I need to hear the words,” he begged.
Sniffling Angela looked up into his eyes, her heart aching from the pain she saw there. “I still love you,” she said barely above a whisper.
Kane smiled and brought his lips down to hers. Angela gave into the kiss, never wanting it to end. His arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer to him. She relished the warmth of his body as she wrapped her arms around his neck. All too soon the kiss ended.
“Leave him,” Kane said softly, his eyes never leaving hers. “Come back to me.”
Fresh tears flowed now. “I can’t, Kane,” she said looking away. “I..have to go.” She managed to free herself from him and ran out of the room.

“Are you all right,” Victoria asked when Angela made it to the women’s locker room. “Have you been crying? What’d Randy do now?”
“It wasn’t Randy,” Angela said sniffling. “Kane…he…kissed me.”
“Oh, Angie,” Victoria said pulling her friend into a hug. “Why keep up this charade? Demand a divorce from Randy.”
“I can’t,” Angela said. “I just can’t, Vic.”
Victoria was about to ask why when Angela’s face paled and she rushed into the bathroom. Victoria could hear her friend getting sick and sighed. The stress of all of this was clearly getting to Angela.

“What’s with you,” Undertaker asked when Kane entered their locker room. Kane was smiling for the first time in a long time, though there was a sadness about his eyes.
“Angela still loves me,” he replied taking a seat across from his brother. “You’re right. Orton’s got something on her to keep her trapped.”
“Finally he sees,” Undertaker said shaking his head.
“We have to get her away from him,” Kane said.
“Way ahead of you, little brother,” Undertaker said. “Meet me at Rampage’s room. Tomorrow afternoon.”

The next day Angela didn’t feel any better. The nausea that had begun at the arena had not subsided. With a groan she dragged herself into the bathroom. Randy was still asleep as she closed the door and began to empty the contents of her stomach.
With a groan she pulled herself over to the sink and washed her mouth out with some cold water. She couldn’t remember ever feeling this bad. Not since… With a gasp she realized that this might not be a bug.
She exited the bathroom to see than Randy was awake. “Still sick, huh baby,” he asked.
“What did you do to me,” she demanded. “How did you do it?”
“What are you talking about,” he asked innocently.
Angela went to her purse and pulled out the birth control pills, tossing them at Randy. “I haven’t missed one since we’ve been together,” she growled. “How could you have gotten me pregnant?”
“They’re not 100% effective,” Randy replied. “Says so in the literature.”
“How did you do it,” she demanded.
“Angie, you don’t know that you’re pregnant,” he replied calmly.
Her breathing was coming in ragged jags. “How did you do it,” she demanded through gritted teeth.
“Fine,” Randy sighed. He popped a pill out and placed it on his tongue, letting it dissolve. “It’s amazing what they can do with sugar pills these days. They can mold them into just about any shape you want.”
Angela sunk into a nearby chair. “Why? Why would you do this,” she asked.
“Angie, the Orton line needs to continue,” he replied smiling. “Once our son is born I’ll have an heir to the Orton legacy.” He slid out of bed and knelt before her, placing a hand on her stomach. “Before you go getting all excited all over again let me run to a drugstore and pick up a couple of pregnancy tests, all right?” He kissed her temple and stood, pulling on a pair of sweats and a shirt before slipping on his sneakers and leaving the room.

“All right, we’re all here now,” Undertaker said as Victoria let him and Kane into the room.
“Hey, big man,” Jason said seeing Kane. “Come to join the brainstorm, huh?”
“What is this,” Kane demanded.
“We’re trying to figure a way to get Angie away from Randy,” Edge said. “So far we got bupkis.”
Before anyone could say anything else there was a knock at the door. Victoria answered it. “Angie, what’s wrong,” she asked as she ushered her friend in.
Angela was sniffling as fat tears rolled down her cheeks. “I’m…pregnant,” she sobbed. Everyone in the room was shocked at the news.
“Sweet merciful Zeus,” Jason exclaimed.
It was then that Angela saw all the eyes on her. Her gaze rested on Kane and she burst into tears. He was on his feet and closing the gap between them in a matter of seconds.
“He…switched my birth control,” she sobbed, burying her face into his chest as he pulled her into his arms. “I..hate him…so much. How can I have his baby?”
“Oh Angie,” Victoria wrapping her arms around her as well. “It’s not the baby’s fault that its father is a…”
“Complete dick,” Edge finished for her. “That bastard tricked you into marrying him and now he’s tricked you into getting…” He was beyond frustrated with his former friend. He stood up unable to complete his sentence and kicked the chair he'd been sitting in.
“Does he know where you are,” Kane asked.
“No,” she replied. “He went to call his dad and then head to the gym. He wants to celebrate later.”
“Come on,” Kane said taking her hand and leading her to the door. “Let’s get your stuff and…”
“No,” Angela said yanking her hand free and shaking her head. “I can’t leave him. He’ll..he’ll kill you, Kane.” |
