{Chapter 9}
On the morning of the pay-per-view Randy rolled over in bed and saw Angela sleeping. He smiled pulling her into his arms and placing a soft kiss on her neck. She stirred and groaned.
“How you feeling, baby,” he asked softly.
“Like I’m gonna puke up shit I ate last week,” she replied groaning. He released her and allowed her to rush into the bathroom.
“Not exactly the romantic morning I had planned,” he said standing in the doorway to the bathroom.
She glanced at him to see if he was serious or not. Apparently he was. “Sorry if my morning sickness has spoiled your plans, Randy,” she replied. “You’re the one who knocked me up. Remember?” She ran the water to rinse out her mouth.
“Can we do without the sarcasm this morning,” Randy asked with a sigh. “I know you think I won’t hit you if you get mouthy because of the baby, but I can only be pushed so much, Angie.”
“You’re right,” she said softly. “I’m sorry, Randy.” She went to him and slid her arms around his waist, looking up into his eyes. She needed to keep herself safe for the sake of her child. If being with Randy was the only way then she would do whatever she could. “Can you forgive me?”
He wrapped his arms around her and smiled down at her, happy with her change of heart. “Of course,” he said kissing her softly. “Now about that romantic morning I had planned.”

Upon arriving at the arena Randy and Angela went their separate ways to prepare for the title match. Angela entered the women’s locker room to get dressed and found Jillian and Melina chattering away. Spotting Victoria in the far corner she made her way over to her. With the exception of a few women Angela had few friends in the locker room.
Jillian’s shrill giggle could be heard as Melina whispered something to her and pointed at Angela. Victoria saw the scathing look Angela cast at the two women and placed a hand on her friend’s shoulder. “Ignore them, she said. “They have more silicone than brains.”
Jillian once again giggled as Melina whispered something to her. Both women kept their eyes glued to Angela. Angela shot them another look and shook her head as she unpacked her bag.
“I just wish they’d say whatever they have to say to my face,” Angela grumbled. “I can’t stand bitches who talk behind my back.”
“And she claims that Randy’s abusive,” Melina said just loud enough for Angela and Victoria to hear. “I mean, come on! Who would be stupid enough to run away and married an abusive prick.”
Jillian giggled again and then much to the chagrin of the locker room began to sing. “Hit me baby one more time,” she wailed sounding like a dying cat.
“That’s it,” Angela said tossing her bag down and stalking over to the two women. “You bitches have something to say then say it to my fucking face!” Jillian continued to sing. “Keep it up and I WILL hit you!”
“Someone’s a little touchy,” Melina said smirking. “Must be PMS…oh wait…no…you went and got yourself knocked up now didn’t ya?” Jillian snickered.
Victoria’s eyes went wide and she lunged just in time to prevent Angela from attacking Melina and Jillian. She dragged Angela out into the hall trying to calm her down. “Angie, stop,” she begged. “You can’t do this.”
“What’s going on,” Randy asked. He had been on his way to speak to Angela.
“Melina and Jillian were being their usual bitchy selves and Angie…” Angela struggled to break free of Victoria’s grasp, screeching curses at Melina and Jillian as they tormented her from the locker room doorway.
“ANGELA,” he yelled, helping Victoria restrain her. “ANGELA, STOP IT! THINK ABOUT THE BABY.” Melina and Jillian continued to snicker. Randy glared at them. “Don’t you have somewhere else you need to be? Get lost. NOW!” The two women saw the look in his eyes and ran back into the locker room, closing the door behind them.
Angela had finally calmed down and was leaning against Randy panting from the exertion. “You all right now,” Victoria asked. Angela nodded. “I’m going back in.” She left the two alone, heading back into the locker room.
“What the hell were you thinking,” Randy fumed.
Angela sighed and raked a hand through her hair, realizing what she had almost done. “Randy…I…I’m sorry,” she said pressing her palm to her stomach. “I…they just got under my skin and…I don’t know what came over me.” Tears filled her eyes.
Randy pulled her into his arms and kissed the crown of her head. “You have to be more careful, Angie,” he said softly. “Please. Think of our baby next time something like this happens.” She nodded wiping her eyes. She attempted to head back into the locker room, but Randy caught her wrist. “Because the next time you pull a stunt like this and jeopardize our unborn child’s life I’ll hurt you, Angie.” She nodded and he released her allowing her to go back into the locker room.
When Randy turned around he was greeted by Edge. “Nice,” the blonde said having heard everything he said to Angela. “You do realize that if you hurt her you could potentially hurt your unborn child, right? Or has that little tidbit of information slipped your mind?”
“Did anyone ask for your opinion,” Randy replied. “Don’t you have something to do?”
“Just making an observation,” Edge replied holding up his hands.
“Really? I could have sworn you were annoying the shit out of me,” Randy replied turning on his heel and walking away.
“You don’t deserve her and you know it, Randy,” Edge called after him. “That’s why you keep her the way you do.” Randy ignored him, but the words had gotten to him.

When it was finally time for the main event Angela stood with Randy waiting for their cue to head out to the ring. Kane was already making his entrance. Nervously Angela played with her wedding band. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was going to happen that night. When Randy’s music began she tried her best to push the thought to back of her mind. She needed to stay focused to keep herself a safe distance from the action.
She managed to keep her distance for much of the match. Angela just waited for her cue to get involved. The sick feeling crept back in the closer to her cue they came, but again she pushed it to the back of her mind.
“Angie,” Randy called, leaning through the ropes. “Give me the belt!”
Angela did as she was told, grabbing the belt from the time keeper’s table. She got up on the apron to hand it off to Randy. Her eyes grew wide as she realized too late that Kane hadn’t seen her there. He was charging at full force and soon Randy collided with her, falling on top of her right in front of the announce table.
Kane watched in horror as Randy and Angela landed hard on the floor. He had forgotten all about Randy calling for the belt and hadn’t realized that Angela would be on the apron at that moment. She lay limp for a moment before her hands went to her stomach, her face revealing that she was in extreme pain.
“Angela,” Randy yelled frantically, realizing what had just happened. “Baby, are you all right?”
“Randy,” she whimpered. “The baby. Something’s wrong.”
That was all Randy needed to hear. He scooped her up into his arms, rushing her to get some medical attention. In the ring the referee counted him out. Kane had won the match, but at that point in time he didn’t care. His only concern was Angela.
Randy’s mind was racing. There was so much blood as he carried Angela to the medic station. It wasn’t long before she was being loaded into an ambulance and taken away.
Kane made it to the back just as the ambulance was pulling away. He saw Jason, Victoria and Edge standing there staring after the ambulance. “I have to go be with her,” he said.
“I’ll drive,” Undertaker said following his brother to the parking lot.
“Keep us updated,” Victoria called. She had been worried something like this would happen. Now she wondered how Angela would react if she lost the baby. The better question was how would Randy react?
{Chapter 10}
“Mr. Orton,” a doctor said coming out of the room where he had examined Angela. “We’ve managed to stabilize your wife.”
“And the baby,” Randy asked.
“It’s hanging in there, but just barely,” the doctor replied, his face grim. “Mr. Orton,” he said seriously. “I think you and your wife need to accept the very real possibility that she could lose this baby.”
The news hit Randy like a ton of bricks. “May I see her,” he asked.
“She’s being cleaned up and taken to a room,” the doctor replied. “When she’s all set up the nurse will let you know what room she’s in.”
“Thank you, doctor,” Randy said, taking a seat and waiting.

Kane made it to the hospital and found out Angela’s room. He found Randy sitting at her bedside when he got there. Upon seeing him in the doorway Randy scowled at him and met him out in the hall.
“What the fuck are you doing here,” he demanded.
“I came to see Angela,” Kane replied and was about to head into the room when Randy grabbed his arm, pulling him back.
“The hell you are,” Randy growled. “I told you to stay the fuck away from my wife. You caused enough misery for one night.”
“You can’t be serious,” Kane fumed, yanking his arm free. “You’re blaming this on ME? You’re the one who insisted that she be ringside for the damn match!”
“And who knocked me on top of her, Kane,” Randy growled. “If she loses our baby I will hold you responsible.”
“You’re a piece of work, Orton,” Kane replied shaking his head. “If anyone is causing any misery it’s you. You’re a joke.”
“Is there a problem here,” a security guard asked. Apparently one of the nurses had seen the altercation and decided to call security to curtail anything from coming to blows.
“No problem,” Randy said. “He was just leaving.”
Kane glared at Randy before looking at the guard and nodding. “Move along, sir,” he said to Kane. Randy watched as Kane boarded the elevator before returning to Angela’s side.
“Randy,” she said weakly when he took a seat.
“I’m here,” he said softly. “You rest, baby.” Angela nodded and closed her eyes.

“Didn’t go well, huh,” Undertaker asked and Kane got back in the car.
“The little shit kicked me out,” Kane grumbled.
“Well, what did you expect, Kane,” Undertaker asked. “Right now he thinks you’re the one who has jeopardized his unborn child’s life.” Kane sighed, sick with worry. “Look, maybe if we wait a couple of hours he’ll head back to the hotel and you can sneak in to see her.”
“That's if Orton hasn't alerted security not to let me near her,” Kane replied sadly.
“There’s always Victoria and Jason,” Undertaker suggested. “They’ll keep you posted.” Kane nodded sadly sinking into his seat.

The next twenty four hours were grueling on Randy and Angela. Though her body had tried to hold on, she eventually lost the baby. Randy had been sitting with her when she felt intense pain. He had been pushed aside as the nurses and doctors filled her room.
He felt like someone had punched him in the gut when he got the news that Angela had lost the baby. Once all of the medical staff had left the room he went back to be with her. She lay with her back to him, staring out the window.
“Angie,” he said softly.
“Don’t,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper as the tears clouded her eyes. Though she had initially been mortified to learn she had been pregnant over the past few weeks she had grown to accept it and even looked forward to the birth of her first child. Now that was gone. “Just go. Please. I just want to be alone right now.”
Randy sighed loudly. “If that’s what you want, Angie,” he said sadly. “Then I’ll give you space.” He left the room, leaving her to her thoughts.
~*~*~*~
“Randy,” Victoria called seeing him enter the hotel lobby. “How’s Angie?”
“She…she lost the baby,” he said getting choked up. “She’s resting right now. Says she wants to be alone.” With that he headed to the elevator bank.
“We have to call Kane,” Victoria said once he disappeared inside an elevator. “This might be his only chance to see her without Randy knowing.” Jason nodded pulling out his cell phone.
~*~*~*~
An hour later Kane entered Angela’s room, knocking softly. She turned her gaze away from the window. Upon seeing him she burst into tears. Kane was at her side in seconds, sitting on the edge of the bed and pulling her into his arms.
“I know, Angie,” he cooed softly. “Let it out, baby.”
“I don’t want to go home with him,” she sniffled once the sobbing had subsided. “Kane please. I can’t go back to him.”
“What do you want me to do,” Kane asked at a loss.
“I think I can help,” Undertaker said stepping into the room. He had gone to the hospital with Kane to keep a lookout. “When will you be released, Angela?”
“I..I don’t know,” she replied sniffling. She then remembered Randy’s threat. “Oh Kane…what about Randy…”
“Let the fucker try to kill me,” Kane growled. “He’ll be sorry he ever fucked with me.”
“So, we’re doin’ this,” Undertaker asked. Kane nodded. “I’ll go talk to the nurses to find out when she can be released.”
~*~*~*~
When Randy returned to the hospital he carried a bouquet of flowers and a bunch of balloons. He headed to Angela’s room only to find it empty. He checked the bathroom and found it empty as well. Dropping the flowers on the bedside table and releasing the balloons he headed to the nurse’s station.
“Excuse me,” he said getting a nurse’s attention. “My wife, Angela Orton was in Room 545 down the hall. Has she been taken for tests?”
The nurse tapped away at the computer keyboard and read the screen. “No, sir, she was discharged this afternoon,” she replied.
“Discharged,” Randy said in disbelief. “Do you know who picked her up.”
“No, sir, that was a different shift,” the nurse replied. “Sorry.”
Randy groaned, raking a hand over his head. He knew who had picked her up. He just needed to find where the son of a bitch had taken her. Not caring about the flowers and balloons he headed toward the elevators.
~*~*~*~
“Are you sure he won’t be able to find me,” Angela asked as she rode in the car with Undertaker and Kane.
“Darlin’ not even my mama can find me here,” Undertaker replied with a smirk. “Doubtful shit for brains Orton will be able to find you.”
Angela relaxed a bit and snuggled into Kane’s side. He held her tightly intent on keeping her safe this time. “Why don’t you get some rest, Angie,” he said softly, stroking her back. “It’s a long ride to ‘Taker’s ranch.” Angela nodded, closing her eyes. She was asleep within seconds.
~*~*~*~
“Where is he,” Randy growled. He had Edge pinned up against the wall of his hotel room. His lip had been busted open and his left eye was practically swollen shut from the beating Randy had handed him.
“I don’t know,” Edge said for the umpteenth time since Randy had attacked him. “Even if I did know where Kane had taken Angela I’d never tell you, Randy.”
Randy growled low in his throat and punched Edge in the stomach, letting him crumple to the floor in a heap. “Maybe Rampage will be more cooperative,” he said. “Of course he’ll need to be persuaded to give me the information I need. Good thing he’s usually attached to Victoria’s pretty little hip.” With that he left leaving Edge sputtering and coughing up blood on the floor.
~*~*~*~
“I DON’T KNOW WHERE SHE IS,” Victoria wailed as Randy held her in a chokehold. “I SWEAR! I DON’T KNOW!”
“Where’s that hubby of yours,” Randy demanded applying more pressure.
“At the gym,” Victoria choked out.
“Or is he helping Kane with his little kidnapping scheme,” Randy asked applying even more pressure. Victoria was starting to black out.
“HEY DICKHEAD,” Randy heard Jason call from behind him.
He released Victoria, who collapsed to the floor coughing and gasping for air. He turned to face Rampage and was struck with a baseball bat across the jaw. He spun around and hit his head hard on the coffee table in the sitting area of the suite.
“If you ever touch my wife again I’ll fucking kill you!” Randy was out cold on the floor.
Rampage went to check on Victoria. She was pale and still gasping for air, but she would be fine. Jason pulled out his cell phone and placed a call to Kane, letting him know that Randy was out cold and would be for several hours. |
