My DAd was a member and fought on Iwo Jima 2-19-45 to 3-14-45. I am missing info on what platoon,company etc He belonged to. I would also like to hear from members of the same regiment.

Hi,my name is Mark Beaumont and I live near London in the UK.I have a fully restored 1943 Ford GPW Jeep that a friend set out to the USMC of WW2.
The markings on the front bumper are a semi circle with 423 inside.I believe this to be the 4th Marine Division.I have been given 2 meanings for the remainder of the marking -from my friend who had been told it was 4th MARDIV 25 Regiment 2nd Battalion Company E.I have been told via a bloke on E-bay that it is 24th Marine Regiment, 3rd Battalion, A Company.
I am now confused-I have trawled the net looking for reference pages and links to hisorical pages on the USMC but none so far have helped.
Can you help.
