Response to It just got darker red!!!

I had two bleeding scares, one at 5wks6d and a much heavier one at around 8 weeks. I am 17weeks now, and all is fine.

Bleeding is really, really common in first trimester for IVF (both 'regular' and DE.) Why more REs/clinics don't inform their patients of this is beyond me. I've heard numbers as high as 80% of all IVF/DE patients will have some kind of bleeding. If you search this forum there are tons of other women who've had bleeding scares and have gone on to have healthy, happy pregnancies.

The only thing you need to get worried about is if you start to have really heavy bleeding (filling more than one pad in an hour) and/or cramping that comes in regular intervals (every 10 minutes or so.) If you don't have those, you're probably going to be fine. And even if you do, it doesn't necessarily mean doom.

Definitely call your doc asap, call them today if you can and get some feedback and an appointment if necessary.

If the bleeding continues and gets heavier, you need to lie down and drink lots of water. Water can keep your uterus from cramping. For my bleeding episodes, I stayed in bed for 24 hours each time. The bleeding stopped for me within a few hours of lying down. I had spotting for the next few days, but it eventually stopped altogether.

I know how scared you are. Try to stay positive and take each minute as it comes. You are most likely okay, your betas are nice and strong! Hold your teddy bear, pray, call a friend, listen to relaxing music... do whatever it takes to calm yourself down until this passes.

You are most likely going to be okay - hang in there!
