Response to Higher order multiple risks and embryo transfers...

on a FET cycle though. We did 2 fresh single embryo transfers with AA and AB blasts, both ended up as chemicals. Did 2 FETs with 2 good quality embryos each time, and BFN. The last FET we just needed to have some results ( were cycling long distance and it was really emotionally draining to have a failure after a failure...). Our clinic agreed to 3 very reluctantly; it is not normally done as I didn't have any known issues at all; just crappy luck I suppose. The 3 we transferred we a good quality: AA, AB and BA I think, but only one took, and we now have a 2 month old little boy.
We were very concerned about multiples, but got very lucky. We took a huge risk , but came out OK in the end. Hadn't we done 3 we would most probably had to go thru a few more transfers to find the right embryo.
There really is no way to know how things go; I wouldn't transfer 3 though unless you have had many failed DE cycles already, and just need to see results already for financial and emotional reasons. And always be mentally prepared to deal with multiples if you transfer more than one! I love single embryo transfers with good embryos, but for some weird reason we had 2 chemicals with 2 diff. donors while doing SETs.. but there has been a lot of ladies here that got lucky on a SET.
Best of luck to you,

zane
