| Overstating the degree of pain and risk involved with egg donation and neglecting to point out that probably most DE recipients have been through the exact same process at least once. If I had to guess from hanging out on this board for a few years, I'd say that probably 65% of the women turn to DE after trying a succession of other treatments. A teeny-tiny number seem to decide to go directly to DE once methods other than IVF fail. And then there's my group, women who were over 45, POF, or had other disorders that meant there was no point in trying w/OE. I've actually considered writing an article or starting a blog on repro politics with a piece called something like "X Ways the Media Misinform the Public on ART," and this would be item #1.
