Response to One more question re: estrogen supplementation (pg ment)

Apparently my RE and Dr Scholcraft (in CO, who is good friends with my RE) both begin to taper progesterone and estrogen supplementation around 7 weeks. He re assured me I WILL NOT be stopping supplementation completely until the 10th week, so that makes me feel better. Currently I am on 2 forms of progesterone and estrogen, and they want me to only be on one. He said the body does not need all the progesterone once the placenta is up and running, that's it's many times overkill prescribed to placate the patient.

He was VERY re assuring/understanding....and for this week I will continue with both forms.

He actually said he believes most people are on way too much progesterone, and that women get fixated on their blood test results-----a number that isn't even 100% accurate considering Crinone and Endometrin are absorbed directly into the uterine wall and don't show up in bloodwork. Even more interesting that this is that he is considering NOT testing progesterone levels at all in his patients, as he believes it's a source of stress for many women.

Right now I am happy and confident---although I'm still on all my supplementation so I have no reason to be upset! happy.gif

I am still going to call my miscarriage specialist and my OB and get 2 more opinions.

BTW--my numbers are not high at all---in fact, they are a little on the low side if you ask me.
Thank you guys SO MUCH for all your support and alerting me to what could be a very serious situation (BTW he did say that he would never stop me cold turkey from either estrogen or progesterone and that I will be one one form until 10 weeks). I am in your debt for making me so concerned, which is why I demanded to speak to my dr today.

Oh--one more thing---i requested that my numbers continued to be monitored for the next few weeks, even though that is out of the norm for them. He said that's fine.

Again, thank you, thank you.
