Response to new to DE, but not new to IF (child ment, preg ment)
Hello Melissa and Welcome . I am completely in agreement with what cotton has said , excellent post . Same with me things that appeared important in the beginning have taken a backseat to getting succes at this point faced with so many variables . As for me , I would have loved to have a known donor , but I am East Indian and with that ethnicity , donors are difficult to come by , known donors are almost impossible . Something about the general ignorance of and lack of acceptance amongst the East Indian community to the egg donation process . Anyways , that is something beyond my control , what I am hoping is that eventually if at all possible I would like to have two kids so they can support each other through this . Just sharing my situation and approach towards this .
Also would like to share a somewhat unique perspective on the CCRM/cornell issue . I have fortunately/unforutnately cycled with both for my own eggs without success . I dont know how exactly to explain it but CCRM in my opinion is the best and way ahead of cornell . This of course is just my personal opinion here . The only problem with CCRM tends to be their exorbitant cost . But even for that they have recently started a success guarantee of sorts , if the first DE cycle fails , if you pay an additional 6-7k upfront , they will cycle you the second time for free . So not a bad deal . Also I think their lab is exceptional . I must also say , since you mentioned that you are favoring cornell due to familiarity . CCRM is such a patient friendly and welloiled machine so to speak , it is absolutely very comfortable to deal with them . Again way different from Cornell in that aspect as well . Also I must say in my expereince they do takeon the difficult cases as well and have people from all over the world come in to cycle with them . Also they never pushed me towards DE , I came to that place on my own .
I have also heard of the excellent success rates for SDFC for DE but do not have any knowledge or experience with them . I do know that they have a success guarentee as well , if the first cycle fails they offer a free cycle as well or maybe even two , not sure .
Good luck and welcome to this board .
