Question 1: I can transfer to a different department if there is availability. There is a hiring freeze, because another hospital is supposed to buy them out.
Question 2: The mandate requires employers to cover infertility, but there are not mandated procedures. Example: one employer may cover just meds, one may cover everything IVF, IUI, Egg donation. One may just cover ultrasounds.
Comment 3: Yes, BBG you are reading my mind. I was considering cycling out of state. I actually called last Friday and spoke with my insurance carrier. I was told I can go to another state, the facility would just have to bill through their local Blue Cross Blue Shield as a PPO and it is covered in network. I was told once I find a provider call the ins and they will check if the RE is on the panel. So I have been looking into Florida. I may also look into North Carolina. I have relatives in both states. I may be able to stay with them during the procedures. Some of the REs in Florida work with donors ages 18-30. I just want to do a little more research on centers. Also I would like to see if financially we can afford the traveling aside from other expenses..
Question 4: I believe COBRA is 18 mos. And thanks for mentioning that. I need to look more into that. That is another option to consider.
