They really really should have at least suggested this to you. You have every right to be concerned. That would make me upset too.

But her condition is a medical issue and her insurance should cover it. Just make sure she understands that she must present her insurance at the time of services (while reassuring her you will be there for the co-pay/co-insurance/deductible, etc.)

Good luck I hope she is feeling better soon!
