I'm a little hesitant to post this here right now (after a few days of such sad news, I almost feel guilty), but I wanted to share my good news with you guys... Yesterday, my regular ob/gyn, who's a very close personal friend and also a personal friend of my RE, texted me and asked if I wanted a little sneak preview of my uterus before Monday's official ultrasound at the RE's office. Just, she said, so we'd know if there were one or two... Her text immediately sent me in to a frenzy of anxiety, but in the end, I just couldn't resist the offer. I figured, if nothing else, it would make Monday's appointment much easier and I wouldn't have to spend the weekend stressed out about it.
So.... we saw TWO gestational sacs, one with a perfectly clear teeny, tiny embryo and a lovely, beautiful flickering heartbeat; the other with a sac measuring just a large, but with a less clear, although still present, embryo!! The second, which was higher up in my uterus, was definitely being obstructed by the first, so it's hard to know anything for sure. We couldn't see a heartbeat in that one, but I know it's VERY early (5 weeks 5 days), so we weren't exactly expecting to.
I'm still trying to remain guarded, since our previous failure wasn't until 8 weeks, but I can't help but get a little excited! Seeing them was just absolutely amazing - I was sobbing as she was doing the scan...
Thanks for letting me share and many hugs and blessings to all of you currently cycling, planning to cycle, or recovering from a loss.
Leigh
