I did not do the hpt; I was too chicken, in part for the reasons Maggie said. OTOH, I woke up with AF-type cramps the morning of my beta and was crying because I thought it would be negative. A positive result then really would have lifted my spirits, as opposed to the long drive to the RE's office and waiting for the call that afternoon. BTW, if you do wait for the beta, think carefully about how you want to get the news. Our RE's office gave us the choice of receiving it in the voicemail box that they used for other instructions or getting a direct call. I asked them to call my cell phone. We were on the interstate when the nurse called. I was driving, so DH took the call. When he said the number (405), I started shaking so hard I had to pull off the road.
