Wait until you hear this one! (m/c mention brief)

I swear on my parents grave that this has been the worst year for me since last year! I went to the cardio doc yesterday and they did an EKG. They found inverted T waves throughout indicating that I had a "cardiac event" (shows ischemic activity--dead heart muscle)at some point. Not making this crap up (will even send you medical records to prove)....I can't freakin' believe it! Now I'm laughing at the diaster that used to be my body...I have to. I didn't even ask about FET since I am now scheduled for every test under the sun. So if my brain doesn't kill me, my heart will! Now I kinda wonder if all these m/c were my body's way of telling me that I'm not healthy enough to give birth. Weird, I tell you.

So, I'm going into severe lurker mode here since my embies may have to go into the donor pool instead of me. I am so happy to have met you all and I truly wish you all the best that life has to offer! Hopefully I can return some day, but for now, I gotta get this 39yo Carolyn together.

Best wishes ladies--I truly mean it!!!

This is horrible. Really horrible. And what about the brain issue they were concerned about? Please stay in touch with us and let us support you however we can. This is scary **** and you don't deserve any of it -- not that anyone does -- but especially not someone like you!

Fred, I'm so sorry, but perhaps this is really not serious

July 26 2008, 2:07 PM

There are many causes of inverted t waves aside from myocardial infarction. Transient ischemia can do it, but also electrolyte imbalances, dehydration, anxiety and stress, drugs, heart block (a type of arryhthmia), and more. You will need to get it worked up to try to find a cause. There are other tests they can do to see if you indeed have had a cardiac event.

Good luck! Please keep us posted.

Fred, this is so very scary...I hope you will let us know how you are doing in addition to lurking. I still would not call it all off for your embies, but, one thing at a time and, perhaps this was a way to bring these issues to your attention so you caught them early or when you otherwise wouldn't and can deal with them.

Please let us know how you are doing.

Every hug under the sun to you...

Hang in there Fred

July 26 2008, 8:24 PM

There are a lot of things that can cause inverted t waves. You don't necessarily need to have had a heart attack to get them. Wait for the rest of the test results. Sometimes you just have a normal EKG, but your heart is healthy. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is one of those things that turn out to be nothing. Sorry you are having to go through this. Not fair at all.

Just when are you going to get a break? I don't know how one person can take so much bad news with all these health issues one right after the other.

I admire your sense of humor and wish you continued strength as you confront these issues. Please post updates as you have many friends here for whom you have been a huge support for in the past and who I'm sure will be thinking of you and wishing you well.

I truly thank you for the support...means a lot to me! I refuse to take this lying down (I don't believe the cardiac event either...gotta be something else)and will have them test everything out on me (I've got great insurance that way). I will also go to the ER next time I do have chest pain...I used to dismiss it, but now I guess I better go.

Still wish you all very well and when I get some news, I'll let youse guys know (hopefully good...getting tired of bringing the board down!).

Hello dear Fred,
I hope you are feeling a little better today. How are things going with you? I read your post and I am concerned for you. Your news is a lot to deal with.
Heart issues are scary but your doctors are there to answer all your questions. Please ask them what all this means for you. If you had an event then there will be a cause and this cause maybe rectified.
Deal with one thing at a time then move onto the next.
Forgive me but can't your RE keep your embys for you for when you can utilise them? I am not sure of what arrangements you have entered into. You can only ask and they can only say no or ... yes they will keep those embies for you.
Fred lurk by all means but just know that we are all here for you and are available just aboutr 24 hours a day what with all the different time zones we are on.
thinking of you Fred and wishing you well through all this, Kathryn (jccc)

Don't fret...its just a temporary set back.

July 26 2008, 9:49 PM

Not sure what made you get these tests, my husband had a virus attack his heart muscle at 35yrs old. It was so bad he was put immeidiately on a transplant list. By the grace and blessings of God over time he recovered and gained his strength back without a transplant. As of last week his heart function was completely back to normal. So at your age and with the advances of medicine, I can't imagine this being too serious to the point it would change your life tremendously. Pray and stay focused, don't get discouraged its a temporary setback and still way too early to determine exactly to what degree the heart has sustained if any stress. Please feel free to email me directly I am a wealth of info on this subject, I can't stress that enough. Cavalier_1@msn.com

I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope it's not serious. The fact that you feel ok is a very good sign that everything might be ok. It just never ends does it, it's just very unfair.

If you don't feel good being around here with what you are going through I totally understand but wanted to let you know that if you are up to it, please check in or hang out and let us offer our support even if it's not ttc to concieve. You have helped so many. At least know that you can reach me at sshay70 at yahoo dot com anytime you need to talk, I'd hate to lose touch.

Lots and lots of hugs to you,
SHay

...honestly I don't see how one person can be expected to handle as much as you have in the span of a lifetime, let alone a year. I am so so sorry for this latest news. I am glad, of course, that they are finding these things because they are obviously things you need to know about in order to restore your health. I will be holding you very close in thought and prayer. Please take very good care of yourself.

Was this a cardiologist you saw?

July 27 2008, 1:11 AM

It would make sense to do more sophisticated testing at this point... such as a stress echo. Is this doctor POSITIVE the inverted t waves are an indication of a cardiac event? Did you have cardiac symptoms consistent with that? What about risk factors, such as a history of an eating disorder or other more typical cardiac risk factors? Wishing you the very best and hoping for a good outcome for you.

This has to be a mistake. I agree with the others that said you should head to a cardiologist.

I hope this resolves as a little nothing that took you on a small detour and that we see you back ASAP.

You are all too much!

Yes, it was a cardiologist and I'm getting a slew of work including and not limited to, the stress echo, Holter monitor and might be headed for another cardiac cath.

I will post in about two weeks when things look clearer. Thanks again ladies and I hope for the best for you all!

So sorry to hear about the latest in your health issues. Never seems fair to have things like this happen. I would assume based on other responses that the inverted waves may be a result of something other than a cardiac episode. I truly hope that whatever it is that it has a minimal impact on your health and heart.

I wish you the best of luck and hope that you will be able to pursue DE after all of this is resolved.

In my thoughts and prayers,
Desperate
