Bleeding seems to have turned into some brown spoting and sometimes it isn't even there still scared. Went to the doctor this morning and they took blood couldn't do u/s too early but she seems to think everything is fine I also had spoke with her last night when the cramping and bleeding got bad with clots but she again seems to think everything is ok. I will give you more of an update as soon as I hear what my results are from the blood. Still cramping now but going to lay down now!

Numbers are In!

July 4 2009, 11:08 AM

Well the doctor just called and my numbers went on thursday from 4200 to just over 4700 which she said you get to a certain point and the number stop doubling but as long as the number went up then it is good. She said to start taking 1.5cc of progesterone which they had just dropped me to 1cc so back up to 1.5 again. She said she will see me for the u/s on the 9th. So am I still nervous yes but a littler better now. I guess I just want to see the u/s.

Thanks again to all the ladies because I would have gone crazy if I hadn't had you to talk to!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you're probably going to be okay. Keep drinking lots of water and yes, lie down if cramping/bleeding. Have you tried doing a full 24 hours of bed rest? I found that to be helpful.

FWIW, I felt a lot of cramping/twinging, sometimes even some sharp pains early in first trimester. Things didn't really settle down until I'd say after 9 weeks or so. Getting off the meds at 12 weeks seemed to help as well. I continue to feel round ligament pain (muscles stretching as baby grows) but that is normal.

Just always keep in mind that many, many women have bleeding in 1st trimester after DE and that most are just fine.

Good luck and I hope things continue to progress well!

Rest Up!

July 4 2009, 12:26 PM

Just get in bed and try to stay calm and let the bleeding stop. Have faith in Dr T, I do think she knows what she is doing.

Question what did the doctor mean when it gets to a certain beta number it doesn't double as much? I guess I was so happy that the number went up I didn't even ask. Does anyone know how the beta numbers are suppose to be?

she means...

July 4 2009, 4:36 PM

exactly what she said... at a certain level, the HCG stops rising and you'll see that in any b/w you do. I don't know why it stops rising but it's a signal to the body for other hormones to start activating so perhaps once the signal is strong enough, your body stops producing it. (Just a layperson's theory there... lol)

Everyone's HCG levels are different. Mine started out lowish (53 on day 9 after 5dt) then 160 on day 11. We never tested again after that. I had a super high HCG (in the 10Ks) once, but that was on a blighted ovum pregnancy. The rising/doubling/tripling is much more important than the actual number, and your numbers are very solid.

You don't need to worry about your HCG numbers any more. Just stay rested and hydrated. The meds made me really tired, so staying off my feet was easy. Any time you're tired, lay down. Take it really, really easy. No heavy lifting. I even avoided lighter lifting like bottles of laundry detergent, groceries, etc. You need to let that embryo get all settled and comfy in there - and sounds like he/she/they(?) is/are doing just that.

Good luck!
