anyone else jonesing for caffeine?

I'm on day 3 of being caffeine free (meeting with my doctor Jan. 11 and hoping to start the next cycle then) and really, really missing my diet cokes. Is anyone else in withdrawal? happy.gif

Here's hoping it will all be worth it when my lining hits 10 and a tiny emby implants!

the HARDEST thing for me...when did you quit

I'm not really going to quit until I get pretty close to transfer--maybe 5 days before transfer.

I quit last time also...

It sort of amazed me that I was able to. For me, it's almost impossible. I am really, really hooked.

You can't drink decaf coffee because it has caffeine. That's such a bummer...it also depresses me because I didn't know that and drank it during a pregnancy and had a miscarriage. (But I doubt it was that.)

I could handle being caffeine free if I could drink herb tea. But almost EVERY herb tea is dicey. I could find only one herb tea with no worrying info on it, which was rooibos. But I'm not even sure I should drink that.

I accidentally forgot and had a piece of milk chocolate during transfer. We have to give that up too!

It's REALLY TOUGH.

I'm not sure I can give up decaf coffee through an entire pregnancy. I wonder whether that is too risky though. What do people think?

OK, well . . .

While it's true decaf coffee has a small amount of caffeine in it, I drank it during lining building, 2ww, and in pregnancy, and it didn't appear to have prevented pregnancy or babies. I did let myself have one cup of "real" tea a day. I also drank herbal teas to no apparent ill effect. Starbucks vanilla rooibos latte was my favorite coffee shop drink. I did start drinking a little regular coffee in the third trimester, but could probably only do so because I was on Zantac for heartburn -- and third trimester fatigue giggles at your vain attempts to defeat it with a cup of joe.

Worldtraveler, you are doing the right thing getting consumption down ahead of time, though, to reduce the stress of withdrawal when you cycle. Try to get off the Diet Coke forever, though, b/c cola drinks have been linked to osteoporosis. Actually, I don't put too much stock in those kinds of studies, but there are just so many good reasons not to drink a lot of Diet Coke, expense if nothing else, I'd use that opportunity to get off it. Just my $.02.

Good luck!
