What would be your age cutoff for a donor? What are any red flags to look for? Clinic I am using is anon, but does offer info on family and health etc. Hope someone chimes in because I need to move fast Thanks!

Some women feel that younger gives a better chance of more viable eggs. Some like proven donors, regardless of their age. Some steer clear of donor nearing 30. Others embrace donors who are older for various reasons. I cycled with a 24 year old proven donor and did not get pregnant.

After reading stories and getting encouragement from many women on the pink board who had found success with older donors, we have chosen a 31 year old "unproven" donor. I put that in quotes because although she has not done a DE cycle before, she is the mother of 2 young children. Women on the pink board say, and I agree, that's the "proof". No we won't know how she'll do on stimming meds, but we do know her capability of producing excellent eggs.

Will it work for us? I don't know, but I do know that our 24 year old proven donor was no guarantee either.

We went with what donor similarity in regard to physical appearance (appearance is possibly closer to that of my DH, but that's a good thing too), good family health history (although it's not perfect, it's very good). My family's health history is pretty good too and education (did not have to necessarily be college, but some kind of experience that showed they had good cognitive skills and an ability to concentrate and follow through ability). The donor happens to be working on her Masters degree. I have a Masters as well.

So, yes our donor is 31, and it did cause initial concern but I moving forward happily

Never thought I would, but she is proven and we just had our RE do a thorough check up and bloodwork, all looks good.

She is 31.

Working our way towards an older donor as well . She is 30/proven . I had read somewhere that below 24 is preferred if not proven and below 27 if proven . For us with our ethnicity , being picky is not an option and other aspects were more important . The donor does not look like either dh or me but she is attractive looking .
