ER is scheduled for tomorrow, and the nurse just called.
Donor has 14 follicles measured, plus another 11 follicles that were not measured. We're sharing with another couple.
I'm confused why some follicles are measured and some are not. Is it because the remaining 11 are not mature and are unlikely to be viable after tomorrow's retrieval? Any idea?
But I would call your RE and find out what they meant. In my case when using my own eggs, they only counted the larger follicles they thought would contain mature eggs or had a chance of containing mature eggs.
That seems a little odd to me. When I went through my own IVF (before my DE IVF), they measured every single little follicle and measured each of them daily. They did guess that those under, I believe it was 10, were unlikely to be mature enough to produce an egg at retrieval.
With my donor cycle, my donor had at least 45+ follicles, 27 of which had eggs, 24 of which actually fertilized on day 1.
Maybe they are just giving you the estimate of which follicles they believe are mature enough to fertilize??
My clinic measured everything over a certain size (don't remember the size), because they were likely to be mature. 14 likely matures is a great number! Good luck!!!
You all were right. Final count retrieved yesterday is 22. Since we're sharing with another couple, that means we get 11, 9 of which are mature. 1st fertilization report is later today.
