Went to RE yesterday. Uterine lining was 7mm. Nurse calls today and says RE wants to remeasure this week. My heart is beating so fast. Online is says this can mean cancer. I am post menopausal with no cycle and have not had cycle in 5 mos. what should I do?

Diagnosing yourself online is never a good idea in my book. It is always worst case scenario and although most of us can't help but check these things, it is usually something completely different.

Try not to worry now. If it is bad news, you will have plenty of time for this. I know it's hard, but I'm sure you will be fine. Find something to do that will relax you before your appointment. Best of luck. My thoughts are with you and please keep us posted.

(normally I would not be so quick to jump to conclusions but pubmed offered it as the only possible explanation, which was worrisome), diabetic retinopathy (I am not even diabetic but the optometrist scared me and referred me to the retinal specialist) and ovarian cancer (ugh, I am scared to get this one checked - have a big cyst on left side and have GOT to go get my ultrasound but I know it is probably fine other than needing some kind of treatment because it is too big). See? You are not alone.

Besides, is it considered menopause after just 5 months? Your body can still throw out a random period here or there, I think, till it finally ends. Your body may well be trying its hardest to ptoduce enough fsh to finally find that one last egg (whether it's there or not) and have built a lining in expectation. Try to relax....I bet all is well.

I know many women who only get a bleed every 6 months. I was told that until your periods stop for 2 years you are not totally menopausal. I am sure you will be ok.

my lining measures 2 now..I just had a check-up with my RE..it does not mean you have cancer..just means you have low estrogen..7 is actually a normal lining.
please do not read the internet..it is often wrong when it comes to medical advice..

When I had a lining check on ER day on my second, successful cycle, I was only at 7 mm. The doctor gave me a shot of estrogen, and when I returned on ET day, my lining was 10 mm. Had twins from that cycle. Take care, Maggie (in VA)
