is 800 mcg per day enough?

If you have MTHFR, you'll need more. I have to take 5 mg per day when ttc, but 800 mcg or 1 mg per day is usually considered sufficient if you don't have it. You can't eat too many greens to get the natural folates on top of what you take in vitamins, though, so you could always up your intake of spinach, etc if you're worried.

I have two copies of the mutation so was told to take 2 Folgards a day...one per mutation, although I no longer do this. I plan to take 1 Metanx a day when I cycle. If however you have no issues, I think that 1mg of folic acid a day is good and is in a lot of prenatal vitamins. 800 sounds good though.
