NOT impressed by BKL products ..........

I purchased a BKL 267 droop compensated riser a week or two ago, and as I began mounting my scope with it, the top dovetail split away from the rest of the mount by almost half it's length. The top pic shows the setup that I was intending to use to mount a scope to my FWB 300S. The setup that I had been using involved shimming the rear ring by about 0.045", and I wanted to improve upon what I considered to be a less than ideal situation. By using a Sportsmatch medium height mount, atop the BKL riser, it gave me the perfect scope height, and 0.043" droop compensation. I mounted the assembly as shown to the FWB, and I had only just given the screws on the Sportsmatch a light snugging up, before I mounted the scope in the rings, in case the mount would have to be moved fore or aft to adjust for eye relief. As I started removing the screws from the rings, I heard a metallic snap, and upon investigation, found what is seen in pics 2 and 3. I am not impressed, but I am, however, glad that it chose to let go before the scope was mounted, and everything tightened up - it could have been a lot worse had the scope fallen and been damaged.
It appears to me, from examining the BKL riser, that they are using a casting rather than a (much stronger) extrusion for these mounts. An extruded mount would not have split away like this. An inferior product IMHO.
