Has anyone ever shortened the barrel on an FWB 300S, with a positive outcome?
The reason I ask, is - a while back, I was asked to shorten the barrel on a BSA Meteor by 4". I wasn't too keen on the idea, but did the job for the owner. To my surprize, it not only did not affect the accuracy (at least within 30 yards), but an increase in velocity of near 50 FPS was noted.
I have been working at trying to nudge the velocity up on a FWB 300S (that I rescued from the parts bin) for a bit better performance for FT. I've got it at around 710 FPS, but would like to see it in the 750 to 775 FPS region.
In looking at the innards of some of the popular FT rifles, the powerplants are dimensionally similar to the FWB 300S, but their barrels are much shorter. I'm wondering if shortening the barrel might result in a similar velocity increase as noted with the above mentioned BSA.

Are They a Choked Barrel Len?

Im not sure myself but would presume Yes. If so maybe it could affect accuracy? My BSA Tactical only has a 14 1/2" Barrel, the ULTRA 12" and a few other Rifles out there. All seem to be just as good as longer Barrelled Models. As long as you Recrowned it well, which should be No problem to You. JMO.
Yes, it has a very light choke, that is difficult to discern with some pellets.
I don't recall if the Meteor that I cut down had a choked barrel, but if it did, the gun still shot darn nice with no choke. I only got to test it out to 30 yards, and for all intents, accuracy had not suffered a bit.
The AA Pro-Sport only has a 9.5" barrel according to the specs, and it is a very capable FT rifle, with both power and accuracy. I'm just wondering if the long barrel on the FWB 300S may be introducing a "diminishing returns" kind of thing, and if a 2-3" chop might exhibit an increase in FPS. I'm sure that a math wiz could figure it out on paper, but I'm no math wiz - lol.
