Response to Those pics

Hi, I'm new to this site and have been browsing. "Those Pics" that you referenced were, to the absolute best of my knowledge, sent into Cyberspace by me in May, 1998.

I know, I know.... quite a claim, what with the many sights online now that have the pics posted. Much of the photographic archive re: The Tate-LaBianca murders were gathered by me from several sources; Bill Nelson, who had the first site I believe, a retired cop in LA, a retired ADA for LA County, etc.

Another gentleman scanned them for me and did optical restorations on many.

The reason that I(!!) uploaded them way back 10 years ago is very simple: There were many news reports and several websites that were advocating the release of Susan Atkins and Leslie Van Houten. The people operating the sights felt that the girls had served much more time in prison than they would have, had the victims not been famous and Manson not such a media pig. A picture speaks volumes. The killers were sentenced to death but that ruling was overturned for all death row inmates in 1972. Therefore, ALL of the "Family" was eligable for parole, because there was no such thing as "Life without Parole" in this country.

When it looked like Leslie was going to win her freedom, I decided that, if these people see the carnage and the wholesale slaughter that took place, and THEN felt that the "girls" should be released, then I didn't want to live in a country that bred that kind of thinking.

Know what?

HUNDREDS of emails supported me... yes, they said, the photo's were horrible, but MAN (!) did they drive the true horror of what was done home. Thats why I posted them.

Patti Tate wrote, "While it's obvious that I have very strong feelings about the website, Mr. Bailey, I completely understand your reason and the motive behind publishing them."
