Hallo, all
Penultimate step of my build: decals application. This is a phase I always like, especially when the decals are good quality. I had first a layer of gloss coat applied. Then, I got through all picts I have just to study the beast. In fact the B (I) 8 had many variations and exceptions. I found a pict of my specific airframe (the XM277) but not when serving with 16th sqn. Not trusting the instructions I remained in doubt on certain details and eventually I elected to:

not using the dotted panel lines over and under the wing leading edge: no traces on the picts
reserve a decision about the walking lines over the wing: older airplanes were often repainted without original stencil being reinstated. I will not use the decals that are too complex. If ever, I will have the dots painted on
the two underwing panels inboard the engines represented in dark brown under the wing as decals

The application of serial numbers under the wings was a bit difficult because I had already glued the pilons:

The dark brown panels cut from a pre painted clear film:

The decaled model, undersurfaces:

The decals proved to be of very good quality, required little application of setting solution and set very well indeed without any silvering:

A further layer of clear sealed the whole model. Now I have to confront with the last demanding step: fitting all parts together and adding smaller details such antennas etc. I guess by the end of the week we will have the roll out
Cheers
Luigi

HyperScale's Group Build Guidelines

The objective of this Group Build is to encourage as many modellers as possible to build their kits and share their progress via words and photos on this Forum.

You are welcome to post general construction tips or relevant reference information and photos to this Forum too.

This Group Build will feature Airfix, Frog and Matchbox kits.

  1. Build as many kits as you like

  2. Conversions, aftermarket and scratchbuilding are all permitted.

  3. Any markings are acceptable.

  4. Document your progress and do a write-up on your build - where did you have trouble, what improvements did you make, what markings did you choose and why? It would be GREAT if everyone would do a writeup and submit it to HyperScale as a Feature Article.
